Service Unit website!
The Costa de Oro Service Unit serves all Girl Scout troops from Carpinteria to Goleta, providing support to over 65 troops, approximately 700 girls and more than 300 adults. Service Units are run by a team of dedicated volunteers who disseminate information and answer questions, run local events, support Girl Scout product sales (nuts in the fall and cookies in the spring), and recognize the efforts of their volunteers.
Costa de Oro is one of twenty-five Service Units in the Council. Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast Council (GSCCC) serves the six counties of Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito in the northern hub, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara in the central hub, and Ventura in the southern hub. GSCCC includes more than 10,000 girls and 5,000 adults in nearly 1,000 troops. Council is run by paid staff who support the girls and adult volunteers by answering questions of policy, overseeing product sales, providing financial assistance for girls in need, and maintaining the Arnaz Program Center in Ventura. Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. was founded by Juliette Gordon Low on March 12, 1912 (now Girl Scout Birthday). Today, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. is the largest volunteer organization for girls in the world with membership of over 2.6 million girls and 986,000 adults.
